This project was based off of the IIDA student competition that tasks us with redesigning the OFS brands headquarters in Huntingburg, Indiana. Their work force consists of dynamic, energetic, and passionate individuals. Flexibility is important to those occupying the space and require a space that encourages and supports their daily activities and roles. When brainstorming concept words I thought about the workforce and how energetic they are. By using energetic I came up with the word crisp which means something that is neat, straight, and orderly or it can be something that is wrinkled or rippled. Items that are crisp allow or leave evidence of change while also allowing comfort and relaxation. The word crisp helps influence both the finishes and the floor plan.
In terms of the finishes blue, gray, and white were used as the color scheme. These colors are both clean and crisp and have a modern and luxurious feel. Different patterns and textures were also used on the walls. These patterns used crisp, clean lines and were both small and large in scale.
When designing the floor plan straight lines were used to create the rooms. In terms of the floor the carpet tile is layed out in a herringbone pattern and uses 45 degree angles to create a zigzag pattern on the floor. By using sharp straight angles it helps promote the concept of crisp.
